Society president, Mr David McMahon, said that the Museum was open for business on 17 October 1975 in time to celebrate the Annual Rotary Spring Festival.McMahon said at that this present time it was right to acknowledge the hard work done by past committees and the generous donation of items by the Goondiwindi and district community.“We really wouldn’t be the place we are now without the support of the Goondiwindi and district community, hard working volunteers, and past and present Councils.” “The museum and grounds have never looked better and there is a belief amongst our present committee that there are still many things to do in and around the Museum to make it an even more enjoyable place for locals and visitors alike.”Mr McMahon said the Society was looking forward to preserving the Customs House Museum to be enjoyed by future generations of this community.“The Museum is such an icon of Goondiwindi. As a committee we feel lucky to be playing a small part in preserving this building and grounds for the enjoyment of the Goondiwindi and district community.”
